Blistered soil, gawking
Grieve as thick, solemn clouds pass
Granting no pity
all is forgotten
of rest, peace, quiet, fun
each Monday morning
Crushed goldfish crackers
Saturday morning cartoons
tiny arms, big hugs
Towering redwood
Palms grasping rough, aged skin-then,
I feel you quiver
Smiling, deceiving
Foot solidly held down flat
Hiding the worn sole

By the way--this is just fun for me--no serious business! And I'm not sensitive to criticism on my "poems"--I just got up this AM and had some things on my mind and wanted to put them down in a few words (yes, that's a change for me, isn't it?)Like:
-It looked like it was going to rain yesterday, but we got nothin'
-I remember how quiet life was, how organized our house was, before kids
-I usually like Mondays, but this weekend was restful and nice
-I hugged a redwood tree in CA (don't think we were supposed to...) and it felt weird--massive and solid but, you know, a thousand years old--timelessness and all that
-I need to get a new pair of dress shoes; I wore the old ones to church yesterday and they'll have to do for another couple of weeks.
I love that you came back to answer the mystery. I was having a fun time filling in the holes. Not bad - not bad at all!
LOVE LOVE LOVE your haiku poetry!
Truly. It's great!
Now, please read my latest post, "The Bottom of My Tears" and tell me if I am totally getting too introspective, annoyingly personal or scientific or educational or WHATEVER!
Jeannie
Hey,
byt the way, in case I didn't say it before (and I don't think I did) THANKS for the sort of "advertisement" of my blog! I really appreciate it! I still don't think anyone cares very much, even my closest friends! I guess it's more of a time thing. But anyway, thanks. Jeannie
